If we have a dream of developing our nation it is vital that we leave aside narrow vision and unite to create a better tomorrow

We who live in this Sri Lankan culture can never agree to killing one life in order to satisfy another.

With the many protests against the killing of dogs in the past, came this method of controlling the dog population through humane methods. This successful programme is being implemented in many provinces of the country. Over 100,000 dogs were neutered during the year 2008, and in the year 2009 approximately 170,000 dogs have been neutered to-date (Data on such sterilization programmes conducted by our organization can be found below)

It is therefore evident and the undeniable truth that this large sum of money has been saved for our country directly due to the National Dog Sterilization programme which was implemented by the Ministry of Health. It is our view that this honour should be bestowed on His Excellency the President, the Hon. Minister of Health and officials of the Health Ministry.

But sadly some female representatives of certain NGO’s who supposedly talk of animal rights and are battling to keep their pockets full, are in a vicious mission to jeopardize this very successful programme.

With just two months remaining for the end of this year. Data is being produced as part of a scheme to bring this programme to a standstill. High officials have been given false information and are being misdirected in order to stop the ongoing programmes in certain provinces. The said National Sterilization programme is being conducted by a group of Veterinary Surgeons who have very limited facilities and undergo many a hardship whilst implementing these programmes. Monitoring of the programmes is done by Midwives, Public Health Inspectors and Medical Officers of Health.

We are of the view that this programme is conducted with excellent organization and in a very transparent manner. If there is anyone who needs first hand information on the implementation of this programme, they are most welcome at anytime to observe and give their valuable comments which will be taken with good heart in order to further improve and continue the said programme.

We humbly ask those of you who truly love our motherland to join hands with us and assist us as we strive with a vision to create a brighter tomorrow for is all and be partners as we celebrate this achievement in time!
