There are a number of difficulties in the implementation of National Dog Sterilization Programme which is becoming a big issue day by day. Incomplete tender procedures, very low price for surgeries, unending discussions about minimum sterility and quality of surgeries, unwanted competition among veterinary groups, unnecessary involvement of a few animal welfare organizations are driving this programme to a bad ending.

We requested the Veterinary Council to pay their immediate attention at some of these issues that are relevant to the veterinary profession.

A letter was handed to Dr. Kandaragama (Registrar of the Council) at his office.
