For some vet oligarchs again the soup is staple!

Kindly send some cloths to Minister of ill health! Someone should understand how dangerous to have an ignorant person as the minister of health. His words could have killed millions of innocent dogs in this country. Now it seems it was a mistake. Kindly send this guy to a mental hospital. We should protect our DOGs from this Rabid Minister.

Ministry says stray dogs will not be killed
The Health Ministry says with the number of dog bite incidents seeing a rise in recent times a more effective mechanism is being worked on to control the stray dog population while continuing with the “no kill” policy.
Health Ministry spokesman W. M. D. Wanninayake told The Sunday Leader that there was no move to kill stray dogs and said that such claims were based on a statement made by Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena in Kalutara last week which was taken out of context.
Sirisena had said that the government needs to control the stray dog population following complaints of stray dogs entering government hospitals.
The minister had said that the authorities are being pushed towards revoking a “no kill” policy on stray dogs but insisted that the policy will continue.
Several petitions appeared over social media websites and was also being distributed via email and mobile phones seeking support to stop moves to kill stray dogs.
Wanninayake said that the existing method of injecting female stray dogs to prevent it from giving birth was not effective and so a new mechanism has to be introduced.
However he insisted that stray dogs will not be killed to control its population growth.

I want to thank you for all the efforts you have made to stop the government from going ahead with the plans to kill the dogs. I know you have played a HUGE role in this. We have done our social media part, but from experience I know how much you are all doing to make a permanent change everyday.

It is very disturbing how quickly the government of Sri Lanka can decide on one thing (in this instance: killing) and then a few days later make a complete u-turn and state the opposite. Don’t get me wrong, I am relieved that they will not execute their plans, but the method of their decision-making worries me very much.

For now the danger seems to have passed, but we must remain focused on our goal, now even more than ever. Canine Life Support will work with Vets for Future in any way possible to make it happen.

I am looking forward to seeing you again in March or April.
